Internal Conflicts and Criticism Over Israel-Hamas War

Dershowitz’s departure comes amid the Democratic Party’s internal conflict sparked by the Israel-Hamas war. The conflict began on October 7 with a brutal attack by Hamas on southern Israel. Following this, Israel’s military response led to over 40,000 deaths in Gaza, as reported by the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry. These events have sparked considerable discord within the Democratic Party about how to address the situation.

“I am no longer a Democrat. I am an independent,” said Alan Dershowitz.

Progressive campaigners within the party have assailed the Biden administration for not taking a firmer stance against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s actions.
