Host Drops Bombshell About ‘The Price Is Right’ Contestants

(NewsWorthy.news) – Host of the famous game show “The Price is Right,” Drew Carey, made some shocking claims about the contestants on his show, stating that he has come across a number of contestants who are either drunk or high when they come to participate in the show.

Speaking in an interview, Carey noted that he often smells “alcohol” in the breath of contestants and even finds them under the influence of cannabis.

He recalled a famous incident where a sketch comedy contestant high on mushrooms came on the show with his friends and claimed that he was a “skateboarding rabbi.” Carey got to know about his addiction when he visited the comedy sketch group Upright Citizens Bright (UCB).

Since taking over the hosting of the game show, Carey signs off from the show by telling people to take care of their mental health. This is an addition he made to the animal welfare sign-off message of the previous host, Bob Barker. According to Carey, he has previously struggled with mental health issues, and his doctor played a major role in his rehabilitation. The game show host also noted that it is not uncommon to find oneself struggling with drug addiction and seeing no visible way out.

Carey has been hosting the show for almost 18 years now and took over the reins after the retirement of Baker, who had been hosting since the show first launched in 1972. He plans to retire from the show only when CBS does not want him as the host or after breaking the record of Pat Sajak as the longest-serving host of any game show.

He stated that the variety of contestants on the show increases his motivation to continue his job. Each of the contestants, Carey continued, have their own problems and they have to overcome them in their lives in order to survive.

The 66-year-old host also claimed that he and everyone else watching the show cheer for the contestants, which contributes to the positive energy of the show.
