ER Doctor On Scene of Trump Shooting Recalls Detail

(NewsWorthy.news) – An emergency room physician wearing a bloodstained shirt told reporters that he performed CPR to try to save the life of a man shot dead at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on July 13. The 50-year-old fire chief, Corey Comperatore, suffered a bullet wound to the head and ended up stuck between the benches, according to the doctor. The victim was about to be carried away by a medical helicopter when the physician attempted to revive him using CPR.

The doctor heard cries of “he’s been shot” and rushed to help the victim. David Dutch, 57, who works for the technology firm Siemens, was also injured in the shooting. Dutch’s sister, Jennifer Veri-Grazier, told reporters that the attempt on Trump’s life left her brother with liver damage and broken ribs. She added that Dutch required several operations after being shot. James Copenhaver, 74, who was a registered Democrat, was also critically wounded in the shooting, but is reportedly in a stable condition.

Comperatore, a volunteer firefighter, was praised for his bravery in diving in front of his family to shield them from the bullets. A moment of silence was held at the Republican National Convention on July 15 to pray for the victims of the attack. The event officially confirmed Trump as the party’s presidential candidate.

Trump escaped the attempt on his life relatively unscathed, having turned his head at just the right moment. As blood ran from his right ear, the former president raised a defiant fist and shouted “fight, fight, fight”. He was promptly escorted off the premises, and was greeted with loud cheers at the RNC as he wore a bandage on the grazed ear.

Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro called Comperatore a “hero” and stressed that political disagreements must never be dealt with through violence. Helen Comperatore, the wife of the victim, said it was “unforgivable” that her daughters had to witness her father’s death. Comperatore’s daughter, Allyson, called her father a “superhero”. A GoFundme page set up for the family has already raised more than $830,000.
