(NewsWorthy.news) – The family of disgraced lawyer Michael Cohen has been doxxed following the conviction of former President Donald Trump of 34 felony counts in his hush-money trial, in which Cohen testified as a key witness.
Trump’s former fixer stated in the Manhattan courtroom that he paid adult film actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 on the former president’s behalf to silence her over an alleged affair. The presumptive presidential nominee was found guilty by the jury of all 34 counts, which related to the falsifying of business records to cover up the payment to Daniels.
Cohen claimed his former boss told him that public knowledge of the alleged affair would be a “disaster” and significantly damage his 2016 presidential campaign. After the guilty verdict, addresses and phone numbers for the former lawyer’s wife and children were posted online on a site that has targeted other figures involved in the legal battles of the former president.
Cohen commented to reporters on how sad it was that people resort to “doxxing stupidity” to deal with their grievances. The nonprofit organization Advance Democracy has also observed violent rhetoric online threatening others linked to the trial, including justice Juan Merchan, district attorney Alvin Bragg and journalists who covered the case. Online forums that have been linked to mass shootings in the past have also been threatening to expose the identities of the 12 jurors at the criminal trial.
The same group that shared the details of Cohen’s family on June 3 claimed that the jurors’ addresses had been shared on the forum that has already been linked to threatening behavior and the MAGA movement. One user on the forum, which was popular at the time of the January 6 riots, said to doxx the jurors “now” in a post that was soon taken down by moderators.
Advance Democracy President Daniel Jones said his group had been monitoring the internet for incitement of violence. He stated that the group had identified the personal details of Cohen’s family online in a post calling the former fixer a “lying b*****d” who “betrayed” his former boss.
