(NewsWorthy.news) – A political action committee (PAC) devoted to former president Donald Trump and funded by one of the richest women in the country has upped its spending ahead of the upcoming presidential election.
Preserve America, a group that appeals to conservative voters to fund a campaign to “help stop Joe Biden,” according to its website, is reportedly investing in advertisements to further promote Trump over his Democratic rival. The PAC is funded by Miriam Adelson, a billionaire physician and philanthropist.
An internal source informed the media that Preserve America is preparing to launch an ad campaign later this month that is worth $61 million, with the intention of knocking out the rocky reelection campaign of President Joe Biden. The PAC is reportedly going to launch the pro-Trump commercials while the Summer Olympic Games begin in Paris, France, the opening ceremonies of which are scheduled for July 26.
The commercials are expected to be shown in critical swing states such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Although the precise amount Adelson is planning to personally contribute to the super PAC’s latest initiative, reports from May indicate that she is willing to donate up to $90 million.
This number was the same amount given by her and her since passed husband, casino owner Sheldon Adelson, in 2020—which totaled 85% of the PAC’s funding. Preserve America was first launched that year, when Trump was running for reelection and lost to Biden.
The super PAC’s move comes in the aftermath of a disastrous debate performance from the Democratic candidate, leaving the party divided on how to move forward. At the end of June, Biden and Trump engaged in a debate for the first time since 2020, and left voters and politicians alike disgruntled about the November election.
While neither candidate is highly praised by most Americans, Biden’s apparent cognitive decline and lack of coherent responses during the debate led several Democratic leaders to call for his replacement.
