(NewsWorthy.news) – Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson joined the many lamentations of the infamous Donald Trump hush money trial, declaring it as a sign of America’s justice system crumbling.
Carlson, formerly a popular host on Fox News who now broadcasts his personal talk show on his own platform, berated the recent decision by a Manhattan court to convict the controversial Republican on 34 felony charges brought against him. The guilty verdict was dealt on Thursday May 30.
The former president and leading GOP candidate now faces up to four years in jail for every count, which will be determined in a sentence hearing on July 11. The charges for which he was convicted relate to falsifying business documents to keep secret before the 2016 election a romantic fling he had with adult film actress Stormy Daniels nearly 20 years ago.
In response to the verdict, Carlson insinuated in a post on X that the United States had “become the Third World.” He suggested that this occurred after the chaotic and controversial immigration policies of the Biden administration, which has welcomed thousands of migrants across the border, exhausting officials and resources.
The conservative journalist described the hush money case as “the end” of the country’s embattled justice system. Carlson also noted that the guilty verdict will not “stop Trump,” who is the presumptive GOP presidential nominee for the 2024 election. The journalist predicted that the Republican would go on to claim a second term in the White House as long as he is “not killed first.”
Additionally, Carlson lamented that the trial serves as a defining conclusion to what he described as “the fairest justice system in the world” and warned that those who “defend” the verdict against Trump are “a danger” to Americans.
Carlson’s reaction to the infamous trial echoed similar sentiments shared by fellow conservatives and Trump supporters. The former president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., agreed with the journalist’s characterization of the United States as a “third world” country and claimed that the upcoming presidential election is the “last chance to save” America.
Sean Davis, CEO of the Federalist publication, added that all Democrats “involved in this insane” trial should be “put in prison.”
