(NewsWorthy.news) – A well-known tattoo artist who appeared on a popular competitive TV show has died from cancer, his family announced last week.
Ryan Hadley died on Thursday June 20, according to social media posts shared by his family the following day. The 46-year-old was with loved ones at the time of his death, which ended his lengthy battle with cancer. His family wrote in the post that he had “left a legacy” in his passing, within “the art and tattoo world” alike, even though his life “was cut short.”
The post continued to describe Hadley as “a legend forever,” emphasizing that he would be “missed and always remembered” by his clients, fans, friends, and “most of all his children.” The announcement included a photo of Hadley working on a tattoo, smiling.
Hadley was known for his work as a tattoo artist, having been featured “Ink Master,” during season six. The reality show brings 10 tattoo artist competitors before a panel of judges to fight for a money prize as well as the title “Ink Master.”
Though he lost in the second week of his time on the show, Hadley’s work left its mark and launched him into popularity among the show’s fans.
The tattoo artist’s death was caused by seminoma cancer, which stems from testicular cancer and is a “fast-moving” disease, Hadley explained in December 2023, when he first shared his diagnosis. Upon revealing this news to the public, he added his plans to receive “approximately 122 hours” of chemotherapy treatment. He asked for donations to help offset the costs of supporting his family while he was in treatment and on leave from work.
In April 2024, Hadley shared on social media that his treatment “wasn’t a success at all” and that the “non-treatable” condition had infected both his lungs and his liver. At the time, he noted that he could live for as long as three months or just “another week,” but emphasized that the reality of his death “tears me apart” because he will have to “leav[e] my children behind.”
Hadley said even then that he was not afraid of death, only angry that there would be forced “abandonment” from his kids and that there was “nothing I can do about it.”
