(NewsWorthy.news) – Support for the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden reportedly tanked in multiple swing states following the recent debate, according to leaked poll results.
OpenLabs conducted a survey within the 72 hours that followed the June 27 debate between Biden and his controversial GOP opponent, former president Donald Trump. The two candidates are set to face off in a highly anticipated rematch this November. To date, they have reported roughly equal polling support from American voters, adding to the intensity of the competition.
However, since last week’s debate, Biden has dropped over two percentage points in Pennsylvania, where he now falls 7.3 percentage points behind Trump. Similarly, he is down 10.1 points in Georgia, 9.7 in Arizona, and 8.8 in Nevada. The survey results also indicate that the GOP candidate could claim victory in states which were not anticipated to be a tough fight.
Trump is ahead by 0.6 percentage points in Virginia and follows behind Biden by 0.2 in Maine, marking a gain of two points in that state in the aftermath of the debate. Additionally, the former president is rising up to Biden’s lead in Colorado, where is stands within two points, and Minnesota, where is only 0.4 points behind.
Trump is ahead of Biden by almost three points in New Hampshire, over four in Wisconsin, and almost 7 in Michigan. The survey followed a meeting with the Democratic president and his campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, who brushed aside the poor performance during the debate with the National Finance Committee of the campaign.
O’Malley Dillon assured hundreds of donors via Zoom that Biden “probably” has “better health than most of us,” to which some attendees described as an “offensive” as well as “dismissive” response to their concerns.
The debate, held in an Atlanta, Georgia studio with no live audience, has been roundly reviewed as a flop for the Democratic candidate. Despite Trump’s controversy surrounding allegations he tampered with the last election’s results, Biden was widely acknowledged to have been in poor condition, failing to clearly state his arguments.
