Yemen Sees Increase in Protests after US/UK Attacks

(Newsworthy.news) – Following attacks issued by Western nations in Yemen, a massive protest broke out among citizens alongside leaders who publicly condemned the attacks.

On January 12, thousands of Yemeni citizens gathered throughout multiple cities while their leaders criticized the United States and Great Britian for strikes that were launched in their state after Houthi militants have perpetrated many attacks in the Red Sea.

Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, who is part of the Houthi Supreme Political Council leading the Islamist political party in Yemen, called the attacks acts of “terrorism” and claimed that the United States “is the devil.”

The Houthis started attacking the Red Sea after the Hamas terrorist group massacred over a thousand Israelis and kidnapped hundreds more, sparking an ongoing offensive by Israel which has killed thousands more in the Gaza Strip.

Houthi militants have launched many attacks in the Red Sea, hindering international shipping, while also targeting drones and missiles at Israel. They have vowed to continue the aggravation until the Israeli military ceases its ongoing attacks in Gaza.

Similarly, the Yemeni Houthi leaders have expressed determination to attack every ship on its way to Israel and issued a warning to international companies to avoid shipping goods to ports in the embattled nation. The Houthis, alongside its fellow “Axis of Resistance” groups, consider the United States as having some involvement in the devastating casualties and war taking place in the Middle East.

In response to the “unprecedented” attacks in the Red Sea, American President Joe Biden ordered strikes into Yemen territory “used by Houthi rebels.” A statement from the White House explains that the strikes were in defense of “freedom of navigation” in the crucial shipping lane.

Rishi Sunak, Britain’s prime minister, also said that the joint attacks on Yemen were “self-defense” and intended to “de-escalate tensions” in the area. Australia, Bahrain, the Netherlands and Canada supported the actions of the United States and United Kingdom.
