(Newsworthy.news) – Hours after the launch of a new line of sneakers sponsored by former president Donald Trump, the shoes were already sold out.
On February 17, Trump announced the release of the product, named “The Never Surrender High-Top Sneaker” at the Philadelphia Sneaker Con. They sold for $399 per pair. The gold, high-top shoes were extremely limited for the apparent demand as only 1,000 pairs of shoes were available for purchase.
During the product reveal, the former president explained to the American public that the shoe brand is something he has “wanted to do (…) for a long time.” He said that the idea of a sneaker line has been formulating in his mind for “about” 12 or 13 years, adding that he believes the venture will be “a big success” and that he has “some incredible people” who have made his idea a reality.
According to the product website, the shoes were on a “strict limit” that only allows each customer to buy three pairs. The site also specified that every pair of shoes is “numbered” with up to 10 pairs “randomly autographed” by the former president.
Two other sneakers—the T-Red Wave and the POTUS 45—are also for sale on the website for $199 per pair. Victory 47 cologne and Victory 47 perfume are two more items available for purchase, each costing $99.
The website notes that the shoes “are not” directly “designed, manufactured, distributed or sold” by either Trump himself or The Trump Organization. Rather, the business—called 45Footwear, LLC—is using Trump’s “name, image and likeness” legally per a license agreement.
The former president was reportedly greeted with both cheers and boos from the crowds at Sneaker Con, with his fans proving their support by immediately jumping on his new business venture.
Trump is currently the leading candidate for the GOP presidential nomination. He has shown significant advancement over his one remaining opponent, former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, and is expected to be on the ballot for the 2024 presidential election.
