(NewsWorthy.news) – News has resurfaced of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s brain fog and memory loss that he experienced in 2010 due to a parasitic worm in his brain.
Kennedy already talked in 2012 about doctors finding a dark spot on his brain in scans that, after initially being suspected of being a brain tumor, turned out to be a worm that had fed on part of his brain and died. The Independent presidential candidate joked in a post on X that he could eat five more “brain worms” and still beat both former President Donald Trump and incumbent President Joe Biden in a debate.
Mainstream media outlets readily latched onto the revelation, reporting that the worm ate part of Kennedy’s brain and highlighting the health issues caused by it including memory loss. Kennedy also told reporters that he had been diagnosed with mercury poisoning following a diet that involved regular consumption of tuna. The 70-year-old commented that he ate tuna sandwiches “all the time”, and was reported to have said that he experienced both short-term and long-term memory loss that experts suggest are more linked to mercury poisoning than they are to parasitic worms.
Kennedy, who has focused heavily on public health during his presidential campaign, stressed that he had recovered from the memory loss and brain fog, and claimed that he experiences no ongoing aftereffects as a result of the parasite, which did not require treatment. Kennedy’s campaign called doubts about the candidate’s health hilarious “given his competition,” and claimed that he had contracted the parasite while traveling abroad as an advocate for environmental initiatives. The Kennedy campaign stated that the Independent candidate’s mental and physical fitness is “robust.”
Though he has made a point throughout his campaign of focusing on healing America and moving on from divisive partisan politics, as the political discussion heated up approaching the November election Kennedy highlighted concerns about Biden’s mental fitness and ability to hold unscripted debates. Trump launched a lengthy attack on Kennedy on his Truth Social platform in April, in which he called Kennedy “radical left” and “fake.” Kennedy dismissed Trump’s rants, calling him a “frightened man” and said he came across as “unhinged” in the posts.
