(Newsworthy.news) – Self-proclaimed Neo-Nazis wearing balaclavas and carrying black flags decorated with swastikas marched through Nashville, Tennessee on February 17. Dozens of the “Blood Tribe” group marched down the Broadway street of downtown Nashville and moved on after being challenged. Fifteen members of the group previously appeared in Orlando, Florida, in September 2023 at the entrance of a Disney World-affiliated shopping centre. Local media reported a local fight breaking out but no data has been provided by the Police Department to suggest that any arrests were made in connection to the march or the reported altercation.
The Anti-Defamation League claims that the group believes in the supremacy of the white race, worships Adolf Hitler as a god, and does not accept female members. Videos posted online showed members of the group chanting “deportation” and “save the nation” and members of the public confronting them and calling them cowards for hiding their faces.
According to the ADL, the Blood Tribe group was founded by Christopher Pohlhaus, a former Marine, within the last four years. The alleged current leader of the organization, Michael Knowles, has praised President Joe Biden for his pro-Ukrainian policies and has attacked attempts by Vladimir Putin to de-Nazify the country despite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy being Jewish. Several skeptical users on X suggested that the Democrats engineered the group’s march to suggest that the US has a problem with white supremacy. US Army veteran Lawrence Sellin claimed that there is no white supremacist movement in the country and that the group was set up by the FBI.
Leaders spanning the political spectrum condemned the march; Republican Governor of Tennessee Bill Lee released a statement expressing his outrage and fellow Republican Lieutenant Governor of Tennessee Randy McNally declared that the country had spent blood and wealth on fighting Nazism in World War II. McNally also remarked that the “horrific” presence of the group in Nashville was not welcome and did not represent Tennessee’s values. Democratic Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell thanked the Nashville Police Department for ensuring members of the public were safe and stressed that he would not allow “hateful distractions” to grow into dangerous acts.
