Black Congresswoman Seeking Profit From Viral Diss of White Peer

(NewsWorthy.news) – Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett is making the most of her embarrassing cat-fight with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, hoping to raise campaign cash by selling swag featuring the insult she hurled at the Georgia Republican.

Crockett and Greene turned a House Oversight Committee hearing into an episode of “The Jerry Springer Show” last week after the pair got into a verbal sparring match while the committee was considering bringing proceedings against Attorney General Merrick Garland for contempt of Congress.

The spat began after Greene made a crack about Crockett’s fake eyelashes and ended later with the Texas Democrat referring to the Georgia Republican as “bleach-blond bad-built butch body.”

Over the weekend, Crockett’s reelection campaign filed an application with the Patent and Trademark Office for the phrase, which it plans to use on campaign swag like T-shirts, hoodies, and hats.

Crockett is also using the embarrassing display to land prime interview spots on CNN, first on Friday, May 17, and then again on Sunday, May 19.

The back-bencher congresswoman appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” last Sunday where she unsurprisingly accused Marjorie Taylor Greene of “buying into a racist trope” for referring to Crockett’s fake eyelashes.

Crockett told “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper that MAGA Republicans have “historically” used social media to complain about black women’s fake eyelashes, nails, and hair, which she claimed they call “ghetto.”

Much of what Crockett said in her interview with Jake Tapper was a rehash of what she said two nights earlier when she appeared on CNN’s “NewsNight” with Abby Phillip.

For her part, Marjorie Taylor Greene doubled down on her insults in a post on X last Friday, saying Crockett “has fake eyelashes” and her defender Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “isn’t intelligent.” She added that those were “not attacks on personalities,” only “facts.”

Greene posted a video on X the following Monday to defend her muscular body, saying she achieved it, not through “nips, tucks, plastic, or silicone” but “a healthy lifestyle.”
