Haley Vows to Do Better in New Hampshire

(Newsworthy.news) – After coming in third place during the crucial Iowa caucus, GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley has expressed her determination to continue strong during the New Hampshire primary.

On Tuesday January 15, Haley promised an “even stronger” campaign moving forward to the primary which will take place in the coming weeks. The candidate’s resolve comes after she placed third behind opponents Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida, and former president Donald Trump, who took the Iowa caucus by storm.

Haley was interviewed on CBS Mornings on January 16, the day after the caucuses which marked the beginning of the process of nominating a Republican presidential candidate. The former South Carolina governor explained during the interview that her campaign’s 11 months of efforts in New Hampshire have been to ensure “that we answer every question” and “touch every hand” before being “the last person to leave.”

She spoke positively about the impact of her campaign efforts in the state, saying that her team is “a stone’s throw away from Trump” and expressing that they are “super excited” about the opportunity ahead in New Hampshire.

Haley also belittled the concept that Trump “needs” to be the next commander-in-chief, pointing out that she is planning on claiming the presidency herself. She hinted at the former president’s track record as being “chaos of the past” and emphasized the need to “move forward” with the next administration.

Although Trump has so far dominated the caucuses and proven to be the candidate of choice through polling numbers, statistics released by CBS News in December 2023 revealed that Haley is the preferred alternative to Trump in the state of New Hampshire. Nearly 30 percent of likely Republican primary voters are in support of Haley compared to the over 40 percent backing Trump.

In Iowa, however, the former president took home more than 50 percent of the primary votes, setting a new record for Republican candidates.
