Former Model Lisa Murphy Dead at 51

(Newsworthy.news) – Lisa Murphy, a former model, died recently after a battle with cancer that was largely hidden from the public. She was 51 years old.

After her death was confirmed on February 1, friends and colleagues shared their sorrow and tributes to her. Irish solicitor who previously dated Murphy for ten years, Gerald Kean, was one who expressed that he is “devastated” to hear of her passing.

Kean further told the Irish Sun that Murphy was “one of a kind” and “a terrific woman,” expressing that he is “absolutely heartbroken” that she has died.

Rosanna Davison, a fellow Irish model who also won the Miss World award in 2003, contributed to the condolences shared by friends and colleagues. She described hearing the news as “a shock for everyone” but remembered Murphy as “a really kind, genuine person.”

Davison also noted how the late model “made an impact” on the lives of many she encountered, adding to the large number of people who are “very shocked and saddened” to learn that she has died.

Murphy’s former boyfriend and once fiancée, Michael Flatley, also expressed sorrow at the news. He described her as a “lovely, caring person” and prayed that “God rest her soul.”

Murphy was from Ballinteer, a suburb of Dublin, Ireland. Near the end of the 1990s, she launched a career in modeling by appearing in various magazines, fashion shows and advertisements both in Ireland and around the globe.

In addition to her work as a model, Murphy was a star in Dublin Wives, a reality show, during its brief run between 2012 and 2013. She also owned and operated a hair salon called New Lisa Life, which was located in Sandycove and closed a decade ago in 2014.

Although the exact illness Murphy suffered and died from remains unknown, it has been said to be a form of cancer. The model spent the last few years of her life fighting the condition while living at her family’s home and did not share details of her health with the public.
