(Newsworthy.news) – Earlier this month, China appeared to deliver military supplies to Belarus via plane, according to witnesses from the Eastern European nation.
Chinese aircraft made deliveries to the country between January 8 and 11, presumably carrying supplies for military use. Although the contents of the plane’s cargo have yet to be confirmed, the Chinese flight parked in the VIP zone of the airport upon arrival. This section is typically used exclusively by Belarusian president Aleksandr Lukashenko.
According to the Belaruski Hajun, an independent media group that is known for monitoring military activity, “unusual activity” was recorded from the Air China Cargo airline at the start of the year. One aircraft—a Boeing 747—was tracked as having traveled to and from Minsk National Airport four times.
The group insisted that they “have reason to believe” the cargo on the plane was “military equipment” being transported to Belarus from China. They explained that the contents of the shipment “likely bypassed customs clearance” and was instead sent out “immediately.” This would have occurred in replacement of the alternative risk of garnering attention for leaving the shipment “out in the open.”
The Minsk-bound flights from China arrived at roughly the same time over four consecutive days, sometime from 9:30 to 10:10 each morning. The time spent at the airport to unload was approximately the same as well, amounting to three hours of unloading per trip.
While the Minsk airport includes a terminal designated for cargo flights, the Chinese plane parked in a different section—space 1A—away from the standard location for unloading cargo. The VIP spot used by the foreign aircraft also stands far from the other spaces.
It includes the most efficient exit route out of the airport and manages to evade the freight terminal, which subjects aircraft to additional security and screening.
The mysterious flights and cargo have resulted in suspicion that China is secretly providing weapons to Russia, seeking to aid the nation in its ongoing war against Ukraine. A military and defense portal of Ukraine, however, has not taken up this view and instead suggested that the cargo was being delivered to Belarus for its own military resources.
