Blackstone CEO Throws Support Behind Trump

(NewsWorthy.news) – Six months ahead of the highly anticipated presidential election of 2024, the co-founder, CEO, and chairman of Blackstone has voiced his support for the presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.

Stephen Schwarzman, who currently leads the massive real estate and private equity company, recently stated that he backs Trump’s presidential bid, describing it as a “vote for change.” The billionaire investor has shared his determination to donate funds to the Trump campaign, as well as other GOP candidates for the Senate.

Because of the Republican donor network connected to Schwarzman, the Trump endorsement opens the door for the candidate to regain favor among business gurus who have become resistant to his campaign.

Schwarzman, a long-time Republican voter and donor, was a key supporter of the controversial former president during his first term in office. However, at the time of the GOP primary elections earlier this year, the billionaire did not support any candidate, instead issuing a call for a “new generation of leaders.”

According to Schwarzman, he was motivated to return to his support of Trump amid the ongoing rise in antisemitism seen throughout the country. This tension has regained fuel while Israel persists in its counter offensives in Gaza, sparked by the tragic Hamas-led massacre on October 7, 2023.

In addition to the antisemitism concerns, Schwarzman said that his endorsement was influenced by his belief—which he said he “share[s]” with “most Americans”—that Democratic President Joe Biden’s policies related to foreign affairs and immigration are leading the nation “in the wrong direction.”

Schwarzman’s endorsement of Trump comes four years after the billionaire called for the former president to simply accept his lost election instead of supporting the chaotic and illegal efforts of some of his supporters who resisted the election results.

The businessman’s shift comes after his apparent determination to back an up-and-coming, next generation candidate after the GOP did little to stoke confidence in the party’s success for regaining the White House.
