Black Media Personality Charlamagne the God Dismantles DEI

(NewsWorthy.news) – Renowned radio host and black media personality Charlamagne Tha God has slated Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs, calling them “mostly garbage”.

While guest-hosting the Daily Show, he said that DEI programs do not improve workplaces for minorities. The comedian compared support for the programs to the casting of a black actress as the Little Mermaid, commenting that something was not good “just because racists hate it”. Charlamagne suggested that the backlash against the programs actually made the workplace worse for minorities by provoking racists.

In his segment, the host claimed that more than 900 studies demonstrated the negative impact of DEI programs on black workers. He also noted that the number of black people in positions of power at large companies is the same as it was five years ago. In 2023 a report found that workers were leaving DEI jobs at a higher rate than those in non-DEI roles. The Revelio Labs study found that the previous year companies laying off staff cut DEI jobs at a rate of 33% compared to 21% of non-DEI positions.

Charlamagne said the programs were only “corporate PR” promoting “good vibes” to avoid civil rights lawsuits without actually doing anything to benefit ethnic minorities in the workplace. Receiving plenty of praise, the speech was shared by Elon Musk on X, who gave it a raised hands emoji. Charlamagne has criticized both former President Donald Trump and incumbent President Joe Biden and is known for not shying away from discussing several issues.

The comedian called Trump a “threat to democracy” in February, and suggested in December 2023 that Biden should step aside to allow a more viable candidate to stand for the Democrats. He has cited the incumbent president’s age and poor performance in polls as reasons he is not the best candidate to compete against Trump. Charlamagne said he was as keen on the idea of Biden stepping in to defend him in a bar fight as he was on him stepping in to compete with the former president.
